Schedule maintenance

Updated · 2 min read

A maintenance tells readers about planned work before it happens. While it runs, its components show Maintenance, their checks open no incident, and its minutes do not count against their uptime.

Schedule it

Open Maintenance and choose Schedule maintenance.

  1. Type the Title, like "Database upgrade", and What readers should know.
  2. Choose when it Starts and Ends, in your site's time zone.
  3. Under What it touches, tick its components.
  4. Leave Email subscribers when it is scheduled ticked to email the people who follow everything or one of those components. They are emailed once, now, never at its start or its end.
  5. Choose Schedule.

Readers see it on the home under Coming up in the seven days before it starts. From its start to its end it reads In progress, then Completed, by itself.

Change it

  • Before it starts, open it to change anything, or choose Cancel to call it off. A cancelled maintenance leaves the home and stays in the history as Cancelled. Subscribers are not emailed again.
  • While it runs, choose Complete now if the work is done early, or Extend to give it a later end. It cannot be cancelled once started.
  • Once it is over, it can no longer change. Delete removes it from the page, the history and the uptime.
